Create a cozy farmhouse look this holiday season with this festive DIY by Sharon Hankins of I Restore Stuff, one of our talented Essential Stencil ambassadors. Using our Christmas on the Farm 3-Pack and a few rustic touches, Sharon shows how to turn a simple wooden crate into a charming Christmas accent for your home.
Start with a small wooden crate stained in a warm Woodwick color for a rustic base. This tone creates the perfect backdrop for festive lettering.
Position the “Christmas on the Farm” design from the stencil pack and fill it completely with white paint using a stencil brush. Carefully lift the stencil when done.
Once dry, slightly reposition the stencil upward and to the side to create a shadowing effect. Apply red paint to the word “Christmas,” adding a second coat for a bright, festive pop.
Next, fill in the word “Farm” using dark, muted green paint such as Fusion’s Bayberry. Add a second coat for stronger color and definition.
Cut out two deer from the Scandinavian Christmas Rub-On Transfer Set and place one on each side of the stenciled text for a balanced look.
Cut along the transfer line where it meets any crate slats or gaps. Use the Essential Rub-On Transfer Tool to burnish each section until the design fully adheres.
This festive crate pairs perfectly with a mini Christmas tree, pinecones, or candles for an effortless farmhouse touch. It’s a charming way to bring cozy holiday vibes into any room.
