  • ❄️ Take Time to Chase Snowflakes: A Cozy Winter Oval Sign Project

❄️ Take Time to Chase Snowflakes: A Cozy Winter Oval Sign Project

Today’s project comes from Cindy of Berry Jam Crafts, who stepped in to share a cozy winter sign full of soft layers and thoughtful details. This oval pub sign combines painted texture, rub-on transfers, and stenciling for a finished look that feels calm, wintry, and timeless.

This is the kind of project that’s easy to personalize while still feeling polished — perfect for seasonal decor, gifting, or even making a reversible sign to enjoy year after year.

    Winter Oval Pop Sign Tutorial

    Materials Used

    Step 1: Paint the Background

Start by painting your entire wood oval sign with white paint, making sure to cover both the front and the sides evenly.

While the paint is still damp, lightly brush green paint across the surface. Dip your brush slightly into water to help the colors blend softly for a frosted winter look. Let the board dry completely.

    Step 2: Add Rub-On Transfers

Cut out the snowman and three pine trees from the Cozy Winter Cuddles Rub-On Transfer Set.

Position them along the bottom of the sign. Burnish slowly using the transfer tool, paying close attention to fine details.

Tip: If a piece doesn’t release right away, lay it back down and burnish again. Slow and steady gives you the cleanest transfer.

    Step 3: Stencil the Phrase

Tape down the phrase “Take time to chase Snowflakes” from the Wish Upon a Snowflake Stencil Set.

Stencil the word “Snowflakes” first using dark green paint and a mini stencil brush. Apply a second coat for a bold finish, then carefully lift the stencil.

Reposition the stencil at the top of the board and fill in “Take time”, then align and stencil “to chase” so the spacing flows naturally.

    Step 4: Add Snowflake Details

Using white paint, randomly stencil snowflakes from the same set across the board to create a soft, snowy finish.

    Helpful Tips
    • If paint feels cool or clammy, let it dry longer before adding transfers.
    • Rub-on transfer backing paper doubles as a paint palette — a great tip shared by Tammy Muto of Cheers to Creativity.
    • This sign works beautifully as a reversible piece using eye hooks and chain or jute.

    Final Reveal

This winter oval sign is soft, cozy, and easy to customize with different colors or phrases. Change up the palette, add sparkle, or make it reversible for even more flexibility.
