Valentine Floral Ice Skate — Stenciled & Rub-On Transfer Round (16")
A cozy, pastel stenciled ice skate accent for your wall — created with a 12"x12" Floral Ice Skate stencil and Chinoiserie Valentine rub-on transfers.
Floral Ice Skate — 16" Round
Materials
- Floral Ice Skate 12x12 Layering Stencil
- Chinoiserie Valentine Rub-On Transfer Set
- Micah 6:8 Calligraphy (3-pack) — we used “Walk Humbly”
- Stencil Brush Set | Pure Natural Bristle Brushes (large & small)
- Essential Rub-On Transfer Tool
- 16" round pine board (shown stained)
- Fusion Mineral Paint: Chocolate (for stain technique), Rose Water (blush pink), Casement White (laces & blade)
- Clean damp cloth, craft knife or scissors, painter’s tape, and a hair dryer or heat gun (low) for speeding dry times
Step-by-step Instructions
-
Stain the board. Damp-wipe Fusion Chocolate over the 16" round to stain (you’re using the paint as a wash/stain). Cover sides too. Apply a second coat if you want a deeper finish. Let it dry completely.

-
Stencil the skate shape. Tape the Floral Ice Skate stencil in place (it’s a 12"x12" stencil on your 16" round). Using a regular stencil brush and Rose Water paint, fill the skate body. Work from the edges inward and use an offload cardboard to remove excess paint. Let dry and apply a second coat for even coverage.

-
Add laces and blade. Position the lace stencil and fill with Casement White using a small brush. Reposition the blade section and fill with white. You can later swap the blade color for a metallic or silver if you prefer.

-
Prepare and place transfers. Cut the roses and small ribbon from the Chinoiserie Valentine rub-on sheet. Position them at the top of the skate so the roses peek over the boot edge. Burnish firmly with the Essential Rub-On Transfer Tool until fully adhered.

-
Stencil the wording. Use the “Walk Humbly” stencil from the Micah 6:8 Calligraphy pack. Position it beside the skate and fill the letters with Casement White using a small brush. Tape carefully and use light paint on the brush — less is more.

- Light dry-brushing for highlights (optional). Offload almost all paint from a brush, then gently dry-brush white along the boot edges — toe and heel — to create a soft snowy highlight.
- Seal the project. Once everything is fully dry, protect your piece with Fusion Tough Coat (matte or gloss). This deepens the wood grain and keeps the rub-ons and paint safe.
-
Final reveal. Step back and enjoy your Valentine floral ice skate. Hang or gift as a seasonal accent.

Helpful Tips
- Less is more: Always offload excess paint to your cardboard. Too much paint causes bleeding under the stencil.
- Use a damp cloth for staining: Wipe Fusion Chocolate onto the board with a damp cloth to keep the wood grain visible.
- Work edges first: When stenciling large areas, start at the edges then move inward to reduce lift and snagging.
- Layer rub-ons carefully: Trim transfer pieces before applying so each element sits exactly where you want it. Burnish firmly for best adhesion.
- Speed drying: Use a hair dryer on low from a distance to speed up thin coats — but keep it moving to avoid softening the paint.
