    Materials

    • MDF arch board, pre-painted in an off-white (e.g., Raw Silk shade)
    • September 2025 Stencil of the Month Club set (Premium): birdhouse, flowers, and birds — Join the Club
    • Stencil Brush Set (Natural Bristle)
    • Mini Stencil Brush Set (4-pk)
    • Painter’s tape, cardstock/offload card, and a blow dryer (optional)
    • Paint colors used in the tutorial:
      • Off-white base (Raw Silk); Bright white (Casement)
      • Rust/Terracotta for birdhouse base; Black for birdhouse detail
      • Brown (Woodwick) for branches
      • Baby Pink for blossom centers; Green for leaves
      • White, Blue-Green, Red, and Black for the layered bird

Tip: Use separate brushes (or wrap between colors) to keep edges crisp and hues clean.

    1) Birdhouse Base — Two-Layer Stencil

Start with an MDF arch board pre-painted in a soft off-white. Tape down the birdhouse stencil, layer 1, and fill with Rust paint. Use a stencil brush and apply two coats for a bold finish.

Once dry, align layer 2 and fill with Black paint for crisp contrast. Speed up drying with a blow dryer if needed.

    2) Cherry Blossoms — Branch & Details

Position the flower stencil just beneath the birdhouse. Stencil the branches in a warm Woodwick brown.

Next, stencil the blossoms in a bright Casement white. Apply two coats for opacity, then dry thoroughly.

Finally, align the detail layer of the flower stencil: paint centers Baby Pink and fill leaves with Green using a mini brush for precision.

    3) Layered Bird — Four Easy Passes

Pick a bird stencil and perch it onto the birdhouse. Start with layer 1 in White paint.
