Create Stunning Floral Art on an Arched Wood Board! 🎨✨

Create Stunning Floral Art on an Arched Wood Board! 🎨✨

Hello stencil friends! Tonight’s project is a soothing, floral creation hosted by Renee from Flip Flop Furnishings, an Essential Stencil ambassador. She walked us through how to use rub-on transfers to turn a simple wood arch into a beautiful art piece you can proudly display indoors. No stenciling requiredβ€”just a few paints, transfers, and a whole lot of love.

Chinoiserie Transfer Arch Board

Materials:

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Stain the border
Use a damp sponge to apply watered-down Elmwood Fusion paint around the outer frame of the arched board. This gives it a beautiful stained wood effect.

2. Sand the edges
Once dry, lightly sand the border using 220 grit sandpaper. This helps soften any rough spots and adds a lightly distressed look.

3. Paint the center
Paint the center of the board with two coats of white paint, switching brush direction between coats for a soft linen texture.

4. Apply the vase transfer
Cut and position the vase design from the Chinoiserie Vase Transfer Set slightly off-center. Rub it on gently with your fingers, then burnish firmly using the Essential Transfer Tool.

5. Add the florals
Choose a floral transfer and layer it above the vase so the arrangement appears to bloom out naturally. Burnish and peel away the top sheet slowly.

6. Add subtle shadows
Dab on a bit of Blue Pine paint with a damp Clorox wipe around the white center to create a shadowy frame that blends into the stained edge.

7. Seal with wax
Once the paint and transfers are fully dry, rub on a light coat of clear furniture wax. Buff gently to bring out the richness of the design.

Helpful Tips:
  • Layer your brush strokes in opposite directions when applying white paint to create a linen-like texture.
  • Transfers won’t stick well to surfaces that are too glossy or not fully dry. Fusion Mineral Paint works great due to its built-in top coat.
  • Clear wax not only protects but also deepens color contrast beautifully.
