    Step-by-Step Instructions

    1. Trace the Moon

Place the moon stencil in the center of your 10x10 wood canvas. Lightly trace the outline, then remove the stencil.

    2. Create a Sunset Glow

Using a sponge, dab orange paint into the corners of your traced moon outline.

    3. Blend in More Color

While the orange paint is still damp, sponge on yellow and red paint. Blend using a tapping motion for a smooth gradient.

    4. Add Spooky Depth

Tap in touches of black paint to darken the edges and give your sky a moody, eerie feel.

    5. Paint the Moon

Reposition the moon stencil and secure it with painter’s tape. Fill in with a light yellow base coat.

    6. Add Moon Shadows

Blend orange, black, and red paint at the bottom of the moon for a dramatic shadow effect.

    7. Create Moon Texture

Use the second layer of the stencil to dab white paint in the upper part of the moon, creating crater-like spots.

    8. Glow the Edges

Remove the stencil, then lightly brush orange along the moon’s edges for a glowing halo effect.

    9. Add Spooky Trees

Using a detail brush and black paint, create thin, branching silhouettes for your trees.

    10. Add the Bats

Position the bat stencil from the Moons Crows Bats Sign Stencils set and fill in with black paint.

    Helpful Tips

    • Use a light tapping motion when blending for a softer look.
    • Keep your stencil brushes dry to avoid paint bleed.
    • Layer colors slowly — it’s easier to add more than to take away.
