Patriotic Watering Can
Materials Used:
- All American Blossoms Rub-On Transfer Set
- 4th of July 1" Word Stencil Set
- Essential Rub-On Transfer Tool
- Fusion Mineral Milk Paint (Hotel Rose)
- Wood Wick Brown Paint (or FolkArt Iced Coffee)
- Soft Wax
- Matte Varnish Sealer
- 7x8" wood board
- Chip brushes and stencil brushes
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Mix and Prepare Milk Paint
2. Paint Base Layer
Paint the wood board with Wood Wick Brown and let it dry completely.
3. Apply First Coat of Milk Paint
Add a thin layer of the mixed milk paint over the brown background.
4. Create the Crackle Effect
Once dry, lightly distress with a soft cloth. Then rub soft wax along the board’s edges to prep for a second coat.
5. Add Second Milk Paint Coat
Apply another coat of milk paint. Let it dry and gently sand to reveal crackle texture.
6. Seal Before Transfers
Brush on a coat of matte varnish and let it fully dry to protect the surface and prep for transfers.
7. Apply Floral Transfer
Use the rub-on transfer tool to burnish your floral design from the All American Blossoms set.
8. Add “1776” and Star
Stencil “1776” using the 1" Word Set and finish with a star transfer in the center of the can.
