    Table of Contents

    Materials

    • 12x12" wood canvas
    • White, Navy, Oasis Blue stains
    • Sea Turtle Stencil (10x10") – Shop here
    • Stencil brushes and stain sponges
    • Painter’s tape
    • Acrylic paints: Deep Turquoise, Viridian Blue, Yellow Ochre, Iridescent Fluorescent Green
    • Fine mist spray bottle with water
    • Sanding pad
    • Gloves (optional but helpful!)

    Step-by-Step Instructions

    1. Prepare and Stain the Background

Start with a clean 12x12" wood canvas. Paint the entire surface with white stain as a base coat and let it dry completely.

Apply navy stain to the bottom portion of the board.

Add Oasis Blue above the navy section and spritz lightly with water.

Blend the colors to create a subtle ombré ocean effect. Once dry, gently sand the surface.

    2. Stencil the Sea Turtle

Position the stencil and tape it securely. Start stenciling with Deep Turquoise, then layer Viridian Blue for depth.

Blend in Iridescent Fluorescent Green and a pop of Yellow Ochre to complete the look.

    Helpful Tips

    • Use painter’s tape generously to prevent any stencil shifting during blending.
    • Spritzing water helps blend the stains smoothly—don’t skip this!
    • Layering colors slowly gives more control over your ombré and shading.
    • Let it fully dry before adding any resin or sealant if desired.

    Final Look

Here’s the final result—an ocean-inspired turtle design with soft, blended color and just a touch of shimmer. Amanda suggests adding resin to elevate the final finish even more!

Grab the Sea Turtle Stencil and start creating your own beachy masterpiece!
