Patriotic Round Board

Materials:

Step 1: Prep Your Surface

Start with your pre-painted round boardโ€”half light ivory and half deep blue. Lightly sand the surface to smooth out any grain, then wipe it clean.

This step helps your stencil lines stay crisp and your paint blend evenly.

Step 2: Add Dimension to the Background

Mix a small amount of deep blue and ivory paint. Using a light hand, softly streak across the blue section to create subtle depth.

This step is optionalโ€”but it adds a beautiful layered look that makes the design stand out.

Step 3: Stencil the Stars

Secure the star stencil from the God Bless America set onto the blue section. Using a sponge, lightly apply white and silver metallic paint in random areas.

Be sure to offload your paint well to avoid bleed and keep the stars soft and subtle.

Repeat this step on the ivory side to keep the design cohesive.

Step 4: Add the Main Design

Position the โ€œGod Bless Americaโ€ stencil toward the top of your board.

Using a stencil brush, fill in โ€œGod Blessโ€ and the top of โ€œAmericaโ€ with deep blue paint.

Then use a mini stencil brush to fill the bottom of โ€œAmericaโ€ with red, blending white into the center for a soft gradient.

Work in light layers and build color gradually for the cleanest blend.

Step 5: Apply the Floral Transfer

Cut out your floral design and place it along the bottom of the board. Use your transfer tool to burnish from the center outward until fully adhered.

Take your time hereโ€”this ensures all the fine details transfer cleanly.

Helpful Tips:
  • Always offload paint before stenciling to prevent bleed.
  • Use light layers when blending colors for a smoother gradient.
  • Burnish transfers from the center outward for best adhesion.
  • Seal your finished piece with a topcoat to enhance color and durability.

Final Reveal

This finished piece is a perfect blend of bold and softโ€”layered stenciling, subtle metallic accents, and that floral detail really bring it all together.

If you love creating seasonal decor with stencils and transfers, this is a great project to customize with your own color variations and layouts.
