🌊 Coastal Arch Frame with Resin & Sea Life Stencils 🐢✨

There’s something special about blending stencils with resin and glass. The texture. The shine. The subtle dimension. This coastal-inspired arch frame combines soft sea-life silhouettes with layered resin for a finished piece that feels both elevated and beachy.

This project was created by Essential Stencil ambassador Amanda Dillon of Mettle Modern Design in Navarre, Florida. Known for her coastal resin and glass artwork, Amanda brings texture and depth to every piece — and this one is no exception.

    Coastal Arch Resin Frame

    Materials Used:

Step 1: Prep the Arch Frame

Make sure your arch frame is clean and completely dry. Lightly sand the surface if needed to help the paint adhere better.

Chalk paint works beautifully on slick surfaces because it grips better than traditional acrylic.

    Step 2: Stencil the Border

Position the cattail stencil from the Coastal Mini Silhouettes pack along one side of the frame.

Mix green chalk paint with pearl essence acrylic paint to create a soft, slightly shimmery finish. Using a brush from the Stencil Brush Set, stencil with light swirling or pouncing motions.

Use a mostly dry brush to keep your design crisp and prevent bleed-through.

Repeat on the opposite side for balance.

Select a few coral stencils from the same pack and randomly place them around the board to complete the border. Fill them in using the same paint mixture for a cohesive look.

Step 3: Light Sanding for a Blended Look

Once everything is fully dry, lightly sand the board to create a smooth, blended finish.

This softens the stencil edges and gives the frame a subtle, coastal-weathered effect.

Step 4: Add Glass & Turtle Embellishment

Randomly place reflective glass pieces inside the frame to create an underwater feel. Then position the turtle figure in the center.

Layer clear and blue glass pieces around the turtle for depth and movement.

    Step 5: Pour the Resin

Prepare your resin mixture according to the instructions (Amanda uses ArtResin and mixes thoroughly for three minutes).

Pour around the embellishments and edges first, then fill in the center. Carefully spread the resin until everything is fully covered.

Use gentle heat to release bubbles and allow the piece to cure completely.

    Final Reveal

The finished result is layered, glossy, and full of coastal texture. The subtle stenciled border adds visual interest that a plain frame simply doesn’t have.
