Materials Needed

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Paint the Background

Paint an 18" round board with white or buttercream paint. Allow the first coat to dry completely, then apply a second coat for fuller coverage.

Step 2: Smooth the Surface

Once the paint is fully dry, lightly sand the board to create a smoother surface. Wipe away any sanding dust with a clean cloth.

Step 3: Stencil the Top Section

Position the top stencil from the Hey Silly Goose stencil set on the upper half of the board and secure it with tape. Using a stencil brush, paint the border with pastel blue paint.

Step 4: Add the Lettering

Using another stencil brush, fill in the words with brown paint. Apply a second coat if needed for a bolder finish. Let the paint dry before lifting the stencil.

Step 5: Align the Bottom Stencil

Align the bottom stencil on the lower half of the board and tape it down securely. Paint the border with the same pastel blue color.

Step 6: Paint the Greenery

Using a mini stencil brush, fill in the stems and leaves with muted green paint.

Step 7: Add the Flowers

Fill the flower petals with yellow paint and use brown paint for the centers.

Step 8: Paint the Goose Details

Paint the goose details using orange for the feet and beak, black for the outline, and purple for the ribbon. Allow everything to dry completely.

Helpful Stenciling Tips
  • Always offload excess paint from your stencil brush to prevent bleed-through.
  • Use a light swirling motion when applying paint for smooth coverage.
  • When using dome brushes, offload paint from the sides of the brush too since paint can hide in the bristles.
  • If your paint feels raised after drying, lightly sand with fine grit sandpaper for a smooth professional finish.
