Christmas in July is one of our favorite times to start planning handmade holiday dΓ©cor! With so many Christmas favorites back in stock, it's the perfect opportunity to create festive projects before the holiday rush. In today's tutorial, Sharon Hankins of I Restore Stuff shares two quick farmhouse-style Christmas signs that are beginner-friendly, budget-friendly, and easy to personalize.
Using a combination of stencils and rub-on transfers, you'll create two charming signs that are perfect for your own home, gifting, or stocking your holiday craft booth.
Before decorating either sign, paint the center of each 10x10 sign board white. For a rustic farmhouse frame, mix dark brown paint with a little water to create a simple stain. Lightly brush the mixture onto the wood, allowing the grain to show through instead of covering it completely.
Trim your chosen truck design from the transfer sheet and center it on the prepared sign. Burnish the design with the transfer tool until every detail transfers smoothly.
Position the "Fa La La La" stencil above the truck and stencil using light coats of dark brown paint.
Using several light coats instead of one heavy coat helps create crisp stencil lines with minimal paint bleed.
Center the Christmas on the Farm stencil and secure it with tape.
Stencil "Christmas" using red paint, then stencil "Farm" using green paint. Apply a second coat if needed for full coverage. Finish the smaller words "on the" with dark brown paint.
Cut out a small holly design from the Jolly Saint Nick Transfer Set and apply it to the upper corner using the transfer tool.
These two farmhouse Christmas signs come together quickly and are perfect for holiday decorating, handmade gifts, or Christmas market inventory. Combining stencils with rub-on transfers makes it easy to create layered, professional-looking designs without complicated techniques.
