Fall Wood Block Trio: Rustic Charm with Stencils & Transfers 🍂✨

🍂 DIY Fall Wood Block Trio with Melissa of Miller’s Rustic Sawmill

Hi friends! It’s Melissa here, brand ambassador for Essential Stencil. In this fun fall tutorial, I’m showing you how to transform chunky white oak blocks from our sawmill into gorgeous seasonal décor using a mix of rub-on transfers and stencils. These pieces can be displayed together as a set or separately as charming standalone accents.

Whether you’re crafting for your own home, for gifts, or for a fall market, this is a beginner-friendly project with stunning results.

    Table of Contents

🍁 Project 1: Autumn Flower Transfer Block

    Materials:

    1. Prep your raw wood chunk by making sure it’s clean, dry, and pre-sanded.

    2. Select your favorite floral design from the Autumn Flower Rub‑on Transfer Set. Trim closely around the design.

    3. Position it where you want on the block and burnish using the Essential Rub-On Transfer Tool until the design releases.

🎃 Project 2: Pumpkin Word Pattern Block

    1. Center the Pumpkin word stencil from the Sweet October Pumpkins Mini Stencil pack onto your block and tape it securely.

    2. Using a stencil brush and metallic antique copper paint, lightly swirl over the stencil for an even coat.

    3. For extra charm, add a pumpkin design from the Fall Forest Gnome Rub‑on Transfer Set to the lower portion of the block. Burnish in place with the transfer tool.

🍎 Project 3: Homemade Apple Butter Block

    1. Tape the Homemade Apple Butter stencil from the Fall Farmhouse Apples Mini Stencil pack onto the bottom center of your wood block.

    2. Stencil the design in a rich red paint.

    3. Cut the leaf garland from the Fall Forest Gnome Rub‑on Transfer Set and burnish it onto the upper part of the block for balance.

    💡 Helpful Tips

    • Always make sure your wood surface is completely dry before applying transfers or stencils.
    • Burnish transfers thoroughly for clean edges and full adhesion.
    • Layering transfers and stencils can create a richer, more dimensional design.
    • Don’t be afraid to cut transfer sheets into smaller elements for custom placement.
    • These projects are perfect for beginners, kids, and even senior craft groups.

    ✨ Final Reveal

Display your blocks together for a cohesive fall look, or separate them for charming pops of seasonal décor around your home. The mix of transfers and stencils gives each block its own personality while still tying the set together beautifully.
