DIY Halloween Haunted Tree Board with Tammy from Cheers to Creativity

Halloween is the perfect time to get crafty with bold colors, spooky silhouettes, and a touch of shimmer. In this project, Tammy Muto of Cheers to Creativity shows us how to transform a simple thrifted board into a whimsical Halloween haunted tree scene using stencils, rub-on transfers, and glitter accents.

    Step-by-Step Tutorial

    1. Create a Spooky Background

Start by sponging Dioxide Purple across your wood plank. Dab a touch of Metallic Purple into the center for a shimmering glow.

Blend purple with a touch of black along the edges to create a vignette-style border.

Finish with a pop of Galaxy Glitter in Ultra Violet at the center for extra shimmer.

    2. Stencil the Haunted Tree

Tape down the tree design from the Graveyard Greetings Stencil and fill it in with black paint.

Reposition the stencil below the trunk to extend the bark, then connect the bridges and ground the tree using a smaller brush.

    3. Add Spooky Transfers

Cut out the Spirit Whisperer’s Dust design from the Vintage Apothecary Labels Transfers and place it so it hangs from a branch. Burnish it in with the Essential Transfer Tool.

Next, grab a raven and butterfly from the Mystical Garden Transfer Set and add them wherever you like.

    4. Finishing Touches

Add bats using the Graveyard Greetings Stencil to fill the sky.

For extra cute-spooky charm, burnish a few more accents from the Moonlight Mischief Transfers.

    Helpful Tips

    • Don’t be afraid to layer: Overlapping glitter, stencils, and transfers adds dimension.
    • Customize your tree: Extend branches or add hills for a unique scene.
    • Work slowly with transfers: Peel back gently to ensure clean adhesion.
