π Harvest Blessing: A Vintage-Inspired Plaque with a Touch of Golden Glow
Featuring Melissa Bradshaw
Want one seasonal project that works for both Halloween and fall? This reversible wood board gives you two looks in one simple DIY.
One side features the vintage-inspired Black Cat Bowling League from the Retro Fright Night Transfer Set. The other features Fall Is in the Air from the Autumn Woodland Blessings Transfer Set.
The Halloween side gets a quick painted background with a distressed finish. The fall side stays natural so the transfer can stand out against the wood.
The best part? Just flip the board to switch seasons.
Start with a raw, unfinished wood board. For the Halloween side, weβre using the Retro Fright Night Transfer Set and the Black Cat Bowling League design.
Position the Black Cat Bowling League on the raw wood board where you want it to go.
Use a pen to mark each corner of the transfer. These small placement marks will make it much easier to return the design to the exact same spot later.
Once the corners are marked, carefully lift the transfer away from the board.
Use a wet wipe or baby wipe to apply white paint inside the marked area.
You don't need perfect coverage. In fact, leaving some of the wood showing through is part of the look. A single coat creates an easy rustic, distressed background without requiring a lot of tools or prep.
Allow the paint to dry completely before moving on.
Once the paint is dry, lightly sand around the painted edges.
This softens the transition between the paint and the natural wood, creating a more blended, naturally distressed finish.
Return the Black Cat Bowling League transfer to the painted area, using your corner marks as a guide.
Carefully burnish the transfer with the Essential Rub-On Transfer Tool until the entire design has been transferred.
You don't need a ton of pressure. Take your time and make sure you've covered the entire design before lifting the transfer sheet.
The result is a fun vintage Halloween look with just the right amount of rustic character.
Now flip the board over and give it a completely different seasonal look.
For the reverse side, weβre using Fall Is in the Air from the Autumn Woodland Blessings Transfer Set.
This time, thereβs no painted background. The natural wood provides a beautiful backdrop for the fall design.
Make sure the natural wood surface is clean and completely dry.
Position Fall Is in the Air where you want it on the board. Take a moment to check the placement before burnishing.
Use the Essential Rub-On Transfer Tool to carefully burnish the design onto the wood.
Work over the entire transfer, taking your time to make sure every part of the design has been covered.
And thatβs it! One wood board now has two seasonal personalities.
Turn it one way for the vintage Halloween charm of Fright Night Soda Shop. Flip it over for the warm, natural look of Fall Is in the Air.
Itβs a simple way to decorate for two seasons without making two separate projects.
