Hello, friends! Melissa Bradshaw of Junk and Craft Treasures shared a beautiful rustic stool project that’s practical, decorative, and perfect for Valentine’s Day or everyday decor. It’s a great example of how a few thoughtful stencil details can completely transform a simple wooden piece.
This mini stool works perfectly as a riser, small table, bathroom organizer, or kitchen accent. Let’s walk through the process step by step.
Start with a clean surface. Make sure your mini wooden stool is smooth, dry, and free of dust.

Apply the stain. Using a brush, coat the entire stool with a water-based dark walnut stain.

Wipe back the excess. Use a towel to remove extra stain and allow the stool to dry completely.

Add the rose details. Position the double rose design from the Long Stem Roses stencil on one side of the stool top. Lightly stencil with white paint using a dry brush.

Repeat on the opposite side. Shift the stencil slightly lower to create balance.

Stencil the message. Center the “Faith, Hope, Love” design and stencil with white paint.

Seal the surface. Once fully dry, apply a dead flat matte varnish to protect the design.

Final reveal. This rustic stool is now ready to use as a riser, decor piece, or organizer.
