DIY Frosty’s Christmas Market Frame with Tammy Muto

This festive holiday project comes from Tammy Muto of Cheers to Creativity, one of Essential Stencil’s talented brand ambassadors. In this tutorial, Tammy transforms a simple Dollar Tree frame into a charming “Frosty’s Christmas Market” sign using the Nordic Christmas Pattern stencil and rub-on transfers. It’s an easy, budget-friendly DIY that adds a touch of handmade holiday cheer to any space.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

    1️⃣ Prepare Your Base

Start with an 8x10 frame and a piece of watercolor or white paper to serve as your background. Remove the glass and backing from your frame so you can measure your insert accurately.

    2️⃣ Stencil the Background

Tape the Nordic Christmas Pattern Stencil over your paper. Using your stencil brush, lightly apply a pale blue paint to create a soft, subtle patterned background. Let it dry completely.

    Helpful Tips

    • Offload your paint—dab excess paint off your brush before stenciling for crisp, clean lines.
    • If your rub-on transfer doesn’t stick in one spot, lay it back down and burnish again gently.
    • Try varying shades of blue or add a dusting of white paint for a snowy effect.
    • Dollar Tree frames make this project budget-friendly and giftable—perfect for teachers or hostesses!
