DIY Reversible Pumpkins for Halloween & Fall
Hi friends! I’m Melissa Miller of Miller's Rustic Sawmill, an Essential Stencil Brand Ambassador. Tonight we’re making a pair of reversible pumpkin boards: Halloween on one side and Fall on the other. Space-saving decor you can flip with the season!

Halloween Pumpkin Side
Materials:
- Gothic Lace & Spiderwebs Pattern Stencil
- Wildflower Ghosts Rub-on Transfer Set
- Essential Rub-On Transfer Tool
- Stencil Brush Set
- Black acrylic paint
- Painters tape
- Tape the Gothic Lace & Spiderwebs Pattern Stencil onto the grooved side of the first pumpkin board and fill with black paint. Let dry.
- On the plain side of the second board, use a stencil brush to lightly dry brush black paint over the surface and edges for a subtle aged background. Blow dry to speed things up.
- Cut the ghost design from the Wildflower Ghosts Rub-on Transfer Set, position, and burnish with the Essential Rub-On Transfer Tool until the film releases.
Fall Pumpkin Side
Materials:
- Sunflower and Vine Pattern Stencil
- Haunted Homestead Rub-on Transfer Set (Scarecrow)
- Essential Rub-On Transfer Tool
- Stencil Brush Set
- Copper acrylic paint
- Black acrylic paint (for dry brushing)
- Painters tape
- Tape the Sunflower and Vine Pattern Stencil to the grooved side of the second board and fill with copper paint. Let dry.
- Lightly dry brush the edges and surface with black paint to create a rustic, aged effect.
- Cut the scarecrow from the Haunted Homestead Rub-on Transfer Set and burnish it onto the other pumpkin board.
Helpful Tips
- Use less paint when stenciling to avoid bleed-through.
- Make sure surfaces are fully dry before applying rub-on transfers.
- Hide pattern seams under bows or a ribbon at the stem.
- Choose colors that work both ways for reversible pieces.
- Great project for kids and grandkids — transfers are super forgiving.
