Halloween crafting is always a treat, and this week Melissa Bradshaw of Junk and Craft Treasures brought us another whimsical project on the Essential Stencil Facebook Live. Using a mix of bright purples, pinks, and classic Halloween stencil designs, Melissa created a bold and spooky broom sign that’s perfect for your seasonal décor. Follow along below to recreate this look for your own home!
Blend together purple, pink, and white acrylic paints across the broom cutout. Use a brush to soften the colors into a whimsical background.
Apply purple paint along the sides and edges of the board to frame the design. Let it dry completely.
Lightly sand the background to create an even surface for stenciling.
Using the Halloween 1" Words Stencils, tape down the words “witch” and “broomstick” along the broom handle. Fill them in with black paint using a stencil brush.
From the Spiderweb Pattern Stencil, position a small section just below the lettering. Fill lightly with black paint for texture.
Center the “Welcome My Pretties” design from the I Put a Spell on You Stencil Pack in the middle of the broom. Fill with black paint.
From the Salem Sisters Apothecary Stencil, stencil the witch at the top center of the broom.
Using the October Nights Mini Stencil Pack, add a few bats in random spots. Reposition the spiderweb stencil to add layered webbing below the witch silhouette.
Once everything is dry, you’ll have a fun, spooky Halloween broom sign ready for your front porch or entryway!
