Featuring Ambassador Melissa Miller of Millerâs Rustic Sawmill
This weekâs Essential Stencil tutorial brings cozy farmhouse charm to your holiday dĂ©cor! Brand Ambassador Melissa Miller shares how to create two rustic Christmas sign projects using her favorite Essential Stencil designs. These warm, wood-toned pieces capture the nostalgic feel of a traditional farmhouse Christmasâperfect for decorating your home, your booth, or gifting to friends and family.
1. Torch the wood base: Use a small butane torch to lightly scorch the wood surface, following the grain to bring out a rustic, aged look.

2. Whitewash the surface: Mix white acrylic paint with a little water. Dip a damp wipe or paper towel into the mixture and wipe it over the board to soften the tone.

3. Apply gel stain: Brush on a dark walnut gel stain to enhance the aged look. Wipe away any excess for a natural finish.

4. Stencil your design: Center the Farmhouse Christmas stencil on the board. Using a stencil brush, fill in the lettering with hunter green paintâleaving the word âFarmhouseâ unpainted for now.

5. Highlight the word âFarmhouseâ: Switch to a clean stencil brush and fill in âFarmhouseâ with crisp white paint. Apply a second coat for bold contrast.

6. Reveal your design: Carefully lift the stencil to reveal a beautiful mix of white and green lettering on a rich rustic background.

1. Prep your surfaces: Select three small barn wood cuts. Center one of the Christmas on the Farm stencils on each piece and secure with painterâs tape.

2. Stencil with white paint: Using your stencil brush, apply white acrylic paint in light, circular motions. Add a second coat for brighter coverage and let dry.

3. Reveal and display: Peel away the stencils to reveal charming farmhouse animals and Christmas sayings â perfect for booths, markets, or gifting!

With just a few stencils and brushes, you can create a complete Farmhouse Christmas collectionâbeautifully coordinated and perfect for holiday gifting or decorating. Melissaâs simple, rustic approach makes it easy to craft multiple pieces in one evening!
