    Materials

    Step-by-step Instructions

    1. Cut the backing: Cut a clean arch shape from your paper to fit the arch frame.

    2. Tape and stencil the tree: Tape the October 2025 Stencil of the Month (Basic Set) centered over the arch paper. Mix white and black to make a light gray. Use a mini stencil brush, offload excess paint, and gently stencil the tree trunk and branches.

    3. Pink leaves & flowers: Add pink accents to the leaves and small flowers using another mini brush. Lift the stencil once dry.

    4. Add trunk texture: Using a detail brush and darker gray paint, add fine branch lines for realistic texture.

    5. Grass base: Paint short vertical green strokes at the base for grass.

    6. Apply rub-on transfers: Cut a skeleton and bat from the Spooky for a Cause pack and burnish them on with the Essential Rub-On Transfer Tool.

    7. Subtle sky wash: Add light blue or pearlescent watercolor around the tree for a soft background.

    Helpful Tips

    • Offload paint: Always blot off extra paint before stenciling.
    • Use bridges for natural branches: Let stencil gaps inspire organic lines.
    • Burnish carefully: If a transfer doesn’t release, lay it back down and rub again.
    • Keep color soft: Gentle watercolor washes add depth without overpowering the transfers.
    • Distressing tip: Wipe nearly all paint off before touching the frame for that perfect “whisper” of silver.
