Materials Needed

Prepare & Paint the Wood

Start by gathering three 19Γ—5" wood planks and two 15Γ—2" wood sticks. Make sure everything is clean, dry, and free of dust.

Paint one plank and both wood sticks with green paint. Cover all sides evenly and let dry completely.

Paint the remaining two planks white, including the sides. Apply a second coat if needed and allow them to dry.

Once dry, apply a dark walnut water-based stain over the white planks. Lightly spritz with water, then wipe back with a towel for a soft, weathered finish.

After everything is fully dry, lightly sand all surfaces to smooth and distress where desired.

Stencil the Faith, Hope & Love Design

Center and tape the Faith Hope Love 16Γ—4 Stencil onto the green plank.

Using a stencil brush and white paint, apply light layers with a swirling motion. Offload excess paint to prevent bleed. Carefully remove the stencil and allow it to dry.

Add Floral Rub-On Transfers

Cut out individual florals from the Pink Roses Rub-On Transfer Set.

Arrange them along the white planks and burnish firmly using the Essential Transfer Tool. Slowly peel away the backing to reveal the design.

Assemble the Tray (or Sign)

Lay out the pieces with the green plank in the center and the two white planks on the top and bottom.

Attach the two wood sticks along the long edges to create the tray sides.

Secure metal handles to each side using screws. This piece can also be displayed without the sides as a statement sign.

Finishing Touches

Helpful Tips:

  • Allow paint and transfers to cure for 24 hours before sealing.
  • Apply clear wax to protect the surface and enhance the layered finish.
  • This design works beautifully as wall dΓ©cor if you skip the handles.

This tray is a perfect mix of meaningful words, soft florals, and rustic texture β€” a piece that feels right at home year-round.
