Coastal Christmas Magic: Create a “Paradise” Holiday Sign 🌊🎄✨

Hey friends! Today we’re crafting alongside Amanda Dillon of Mettle Modern Design, who created a beautiful coastal Christmas sign using soft stain blending, layered stencils, and a few bright wooden ornaments. This project is perfect if you love a relaxed beachy vibe—even during the holidays.

    Table of Contents

    Materials

    • 10x20 wood panel
    • White stain, Bay Blue stain, and Vintage Green stain
    • Stain sponges
    • Fine-grit sanding block
    • White acrylic paint
    • Just Another Day in Paradise Stencil

    • Wooden coastal ornaments
    • Adhesive or craft glue

    1. Stain & Blend the Coastal Background

Start with a 10x20 board and lay down a full coat of white stain. Cover the edges for an even base.

While the white is still damp, apply Bay Blue to half of the board.

On the other half, apply Vintage Green, spray lightly with water, and blend the two colors together to create a soft ombré effect.

Once dry, sand lightly for a smooth, airy finish.

Helpful Tip: Start with white stain when blending multiple colors. It helps everything merge softly and look more high-end.

    2. Stencil the Phrase

Position the “Just Another Day in Paradise” stencil and paint only “Just Another” using white acrylic and your stencil brush.

Next, tape down the Merry Christmas to All stencil and apply only the word “Christmas.”

Add the word “in” from the Paradise stencil pack.

Finish with “Paradise” centered across the board.

Give everything a quick sand for a soft, coastal look.

Helpful Tip: Mixing fonts or pulling word elements from multiple stencils is a great way to make a phrase feel totally custom.

    3. Paint & Attach the Ornaments

Paint your wooden ornaments in a mix of coastal blues, soft pinks, or any colors that give your project personality.

Once dry, arrange them along the bottom of the board and glue them into place.

Helpful Tip: Adding dimensional pieces instantly elevates a sign without needing resin or glass work.

    Final Reveal

And that’s it! A serene, coastal Christmas sign that brings a little paradise into your holiday decorating.
