Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Create the Sky Background

Lay a strip of painter’s tape across your white board. Paint the upper section above the tape with winter blue paint to create a soft sky background. Allow it to dry completely.

Step 2: Paint Birch Trees

Once dry, use white paint to create semi-thick vertical lines resembling birch trees. Add a few black streaks and small branches using a detail brush to mimic natural bark texture.

Step 3: Add the Stenciled Words

Remove the tape and position the Home Sweet Home stencil just below the painted section. Using a mini stencil brush, dab on blue paint only for the text portion.

Step 4: Add a Decorative Divider

Apply two strips of painter’s tape across the board, leaving a narrow gap between them. Fill the gap with evergreen green paint, then add a coat of silver paint on top to create a metallic divider line.

Step 5: Add the Scandinavian House Transfer

Cut out the house design from the Scandinavian Christmas Rub-on Transfer Pack and place it on the upper blue section. Burnish gently with the transfer tool until it fully adheres.

Step 6: Add Snow and Tangerine Accents

Use white paint to create snow beneath the house and trees. Then cut out the tangerine slice ornaments from the same transfer pack and apply them beside the “Sweet Home” text for a bright, festive touch.

Helpful Tips

  • Keep your brush dry when stenciling to avoid paint bleeding under the stencil.
  • Layer lightly—it’s better to build color gradually than apply too much paint at once.
  • Rub-on transfers adhere best on smooth, fully dry surfaces.
  • Seal your finished piece with a clear matte top coat for long-lasting protection.
