DIY October Stencil of the Month Project: Tree with Tire Swing & Woodland Friends

Hi friends! Sharon Hankins of I Restore Stuff here. Today I’m walking you through a fun project using the October 2025 Stencil of the Month Premium Set. This month’s design is all about cozy fall vibes — a beautiful tree, woodland critters, and even a tire swing. It’s such a versatile set, and you can customize it with sayings, initials, or seasonal touches.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

    1. Stencil the Tree Trunk

Start by positioning the main tree stencil from the October Premium Set onto your board. Using a regular stencil brush, fill in the trunk with brown paint.

    2. Add Greenery

Once dry, apply light green paint to the leaves and grass. Then layer in darker green shades to add depth and texture.

    3. Paint the Flowers

Using a mini brush, stencil the flowers in red. Blow dry, then apply a second coat to make them stand out.

    4. Add the Tire Swing

Position the tire swing stencil so it hangs naturally from a branch. Paint the rope in woodwick brown, then fill the tire with black paint.

    5. Bring in the Woodland Friends

From the October Add-On set, add a squirrel climbing the trunk and two birds perched on a branch. Use woodwick brown for the squirrel, and a mix of red and black for the birds.

    6. Personalize with a Heart

Finally, stencil a white heart in the center of the trunk. Add initials or a date inside to make it uniquely yours!

    Helpful Tips

    • Less paint is more. Offload excess paint before stenciling to avoid bleed-through.
    • Layer your greens. Using both light and dark shades gives leaves a more natural look.
    • Customize it! Add sayings, initials, or seasonal touches to make your project one-of-a-kind.
