Materials Needed

Step 1: Prep Your Thrifted Frame

Start by removing the canvas from a solid wood frame you’ve found at a thrift store. Lightly sand if needed, then create a custom stain wash by mixing Fusion Mineral’s Wood Wick with water. Brush it over the frame to highlight the rustic grain and let it dry.

Step 2: Create a Coastal Background

Paint your MDF board in sections to create a beachy ombré effect:

• Apply Renfrew Blue to the top third.
• Brush Raw Silk (white) across the center.
• Use Azure on the bottom third.

While the paint is still wet, gently blend the transitions for a smooth gradient.

Step 3: Stencil the Turtle

Once dry, center and tape down your Coastal Sea Turtle Stencil. Using a 7/8" stencil brush and Bright White paint, gently swirl the brush over the design. Remember: less paint is more!

Peel up the stencil for a clean sea turtle silhouette.

Final Touches

Staple your MDF board into the back of the frame. Display it standing or hanging—either way, it’s a perfect piece for your coastal cottage or summer porch.
