Fall is the perfect time for cozy DIY décor, and Sharon Speiser of Sharon's Shed Signs & Designs is here to walk us through a playful twist on seasonal stenciling — a “Flawless for Football” turkey round that’s perfect for both football fans and fall lovers alike. This 18-inch wooden round blends rustic charm with a touch of game-day spirit. Let’s get crafting!
Apply a coat of clear wax along the edges of your pre-stained 18" round board. This will make sanding back later much easier.
Using a foam brush, coat the board with vintage white paint. Dry with a blow dryer, then apply a second coat for full coverage.
Once the paint is fully dry, lightly sand the edges and surface to reveal bits of the brown stain underneath.
Tape down the “Fall is for Football” stencil at the upper portion of the board. Using a stencil brush, fill the letters with black paint.
With a detail brush, carefully connect the stencil bridges for smooth, continuous lettering.
Position the first layer of the Football Turkey stencil beneath the words. Use dark brown paint for the turkey’s body, applying two light coats.
Mix red and brown paint for a football-like color, then fill the football feather shapes.
Align the second stencil layer with the first for perfect detail placement.
Paint the beak yellow, the snood red, and the eyes white with black pupils. Apply two coats for bold, even color.
Fill in any remaining details with white paint for a crisp finish.
Your “Flawless for Football” turkey round is complete and ready to display for fall gatherings, football watch parties, or Thanksgiving.
