He Is Risen” Easter Door Hanger DIY ✝️🌸

If you're looking for a meaningful Easter project with beautiful dimension and layered detail, this 12” “He Is Risen” round is a perfect choice. Created by our talented ambassador Sharon of Sharon Shed Signs and Designs, this design combines bold stenciling, soft florals, and a dimensional resin cross for a piece that truly stands out.

This project is beginner-friendly but has just enough detail to make it feel special. Let’s walk through it step by step.

He Is Risen 12” Round Door Hanger

    Materials:

    Step 1: Paint the Base

Start by painting your 12” round board with white paint using a sponge brush. Apply a second coat for full, even coverage.

Allow the board to dry completely before moving on. A fully dry surface helps prevent bleeding when stenciling.

    Step 2: Stencil the Lettering

Position the He Is Risen Door Hanger Stencil onto the board and secure it with tape.

Using a stencil brush, fill in the words with black paint. Leave the cross area unpainted if you plan to attach a dimensional cross later.

Apply a second light coat for a bold, clean finish.

Use a light, circular motion and offload your brush first to prevent paint bleed.

Step 3: Add the Thorn Detail

Using another stencil brush, fill in the thorn design with brown paint. Apply in light layers, building color gradually.

Allow the paint to dry, then carefully lift the stencil.

    Helpful Tip:
If you notice any small imperfections, you can gently clean them up while the paint is still wet using a damp cloth or cotton swab.

Step 4: Extend the Thorn Border

Reposition the stencil, aligning the thorn ends to create a longer, flowing border effect.

Once aligned, fill the thorn again with brown paint to extend the design.

Take your time lining up the edges for a seamless look.

Allow everything to dry completely before moving on.

Step 5: Apply the Floral Rub-On

Cut out a floral design from the Spring Flowers & Butterflies Rub-On Transfer pack.

Position it along the bottom portion of the board.

Burnish firmly using the Essential Rub-On Transfer Tool until fully adhered.

Once the transfer touches the surface and sticks, avoid repositioning. Press and burnish thoroughly before peeling back the sheet.

Step 6: Attach the Resin Cross

Apply adhesive to the back of your resin or wooden cross.

Position it beside the wording and press firmly to secure it in place.

This adds beautiful dimension and makes the piece feel complete.

    Final Reveal

This layered Easter round is perfect for doors, entryways, or gifting. The bold lettering, extended thorn detail, soft florals, and dimensional cross create a design that feels both meaningful and beautifully balanced.
