Materials

Step 1: Stain the Box

Start by staining the wooden box tray with a water-based Dark Walnut stain. Cover all sides, including the bottom. Wipe off any excess stain with a clean towel and let it dry completely.

Step 2: Paint the Exterior

Using Vintage Duck Egg paint, lightly brush all outer sides of the box. Leave the inside unpainted. Let the paint dry completely before moving on.

Step 3: Sand for Smoothness

Once dry, gently sand the painted areas to create a smooth surface. Wipe away any sanding residue with a clean towel. This ensures the transfers will adhere evenly.

Step 4: Apply Vintage Stamp Transfers

Cut out your chosen designs from the Vintage Spring Stamps Rub-on Transfer pack. Position and burnish them onto the two longer painted sides using the transfer tool. Work in small circular motions and press into grooves for a seamless look. Layer designs at angles for a collected, vintage effect.

Step 5: Stencil Script

Place the Love is Patient script stencil on one long side. Using a stencil brush, lightly fill in the words with black paint. Keep the brush dry for a subtle background texture. Repeat on the opposite side for balance.

Step 6: Apply Wax

Apply wax to all sides of the box to enhance the vintage look. You can layer dark wax over clear wax for added depth. Work the wax into grooves and edges to highlight texture.
