Hello Summer Flamingo Round Sign

Materials Needed

Step 1: Create the Coastal Background

Start by staining your 18" round board with white stain using a stain sponge. Lightly spritz water onto the surface to help spread the stain evenly across the board and edges for a soft blended finish.

Applying white stain to round board

While the board is still damp, apply beige stain to the bottom portion of the board and blend upward to create a soft sandy beach effect.

Using a separate sponge, apply light blue stain to the upper section of the board to create a soft ocean-inspired background. Spritz additional water as needed to blend the colors seamlessly.

Allow the board to dry completely before moving to the next step.

Step 2: Prep the Surface

Once dry, lightly sand the surface to smooth any raised grain from the water and stain application. This helps create a clean finish for stenciling.

Step 3: Stencil the Flamingo Design

Position the Flamingo Hello Summer Stencil onto the lower half of the board and secure it with stencil tape.

Using a stencil brush, fill in the flamingo and flowers with pink paint using light layers to avoid paint bleed.

Next, use a mini stencil brush to fill the leaves and greenery with green paint. Apply a second coat if needed for brighter coverage.

Using another stencil brush, add black paint to the flamingoโ€™s beak and the โ€œHello Summerโ€ wording.

Step 4: Add Dimension and Detail

Return to the flowers and lightly blend in a deeper pink shade to create extra depth and dimension. Add black flower centers for contrast and detail.

Adding dimension to flowers with layered paint

Using the coordinating leaves stencil from the same set, add tropical greenery accents to the upper portion of the board to balance the overall design.
