In this cozy winter project, we’re joining Tammy Muto of Cheers to Creativity as she transforms a simple Dollar Tree star into a charming winter woodland décor piece featuring soft snowy trees and an adorable penguin. This is a beginner-friendly, budget-friendly craft that’s perfect for seasonal decorating.
Begin with a clean, smooth star-shaped board. Lightly sand it if needed, then apply a full coat of winter blue paint.
Water down a bit of white paint, load a scruffy brush, and flick it gently across the surface to create a snowy sky. Dry completely.
Give the board a quick sand to keep everything smooth before layering transfers.
Cut a tree section from the Winter Pines & Critters set and place it in the center of the board. Burnish it well using the transfer tool until fully released.
Use a small brush with white paint to tap in soft tree shapes. These add depth and the look of distant forest layers.
Cut out the penguin design from the Cozy Winter Cuddles set and place it among the trees. Burnish thoroughly to adhere.
Brush soft white paint beneath the penguin for snow, then dot additional falling snow across the sky. Optional: add glitter or diamond dust for sparkle.
