Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Prep and Paint the Star

Begin with a clean, smooth star-shaped board. Lightly sand it if needed, then apply a full coat of winter blue paint.

2. Add Soft Snow Speckles

Water down a bit of white paint, load a scruffy brush, and flick it gently across the surface to create a snowy sky. Dry completely.

3. Smooth the Surface

Give the board a quick sand to keep everything smooth before layering transfers.

4. Add the Tree Transfer

Cut a tree section from the Winter Pines & Critters set and place it in the center of the board. Burnish it well using the transfer tool until fully released.

5. Paint Background Trees

Use a small brush with white paint to tap in soft tree shapes. These add depth and the look of distant forest layers.

6. Add the Penguin

Cut out the penguin design from the Cozy Winter Cuddles set and place it among the trees. Burnish thoroughly to adhere.

7. Finish the Snowy Ground

Brush soft white paint beneath the penguin for snow, then dot additional falling snow across the sky. Optional: add glitter or diamond dust for sparkle.

Helpful Tips

  • If a transfer doesn’t fully release, touch up missing areas with paint using a small brush.
  • Dry each layer completely before adding the next to keep transfers crisp.
  • Light sanding between paint layers keeps the final finish smooth.
  • Try grouping several stars together for a festive gallery wall.
