Start with a clean, dry 15" x 11" cedar board. Cedar has beautiful natural grain that looks especially stunning once it's finished, making it a perfect choice for rustic nursery decor.
Choose the letters needed for your name and find the center of your board before placing your stencils. Starting with the middle letter and working outward helps create even spacing.
Tip: Secure each stencil with painter's tape so nothing shifts while you're painting.
Using an off-white acrylic paint and a stencil brush, apply the paint using a light swirling motion. Be sure to offload most of the paint onto a coffee filter or paper towel first.
Less paint is best when stenciling. Building the color slowly helps create crisp, clean edges.
