Hey friends!
If you love a project thatβs simple, affordable, and full of creative flexibility, this one is for you. Amanda Dillon of Mettle Modern Design is showing how to take one stencil and create two completely different pillow designsβperfect for switching up your decor or offering variety in your booth.
The best part? You only need one stencil to do it.

Start with a canvas pillow cover. Insert a flat backer board inside to keep the surface firm and prevent paint from bleeding through.

Center the Vintage stencil on the pillow and secure it with tape. Using a stencil brush, apply black paint with a light swirling motion.
Less paint is keyβoffload your brush well to avoid bleeding and get crisp results on fabric.
Carefully lift the stencil and allow it to dry completely.

Flip the pillow over and reposition the same stencil. This time, stencil only the word βVintageβ using a deep navy tone (mix blue and black paint).

Next, place two strips of painterβs tape near the bottom of the pillow, leaving a gap between them. Fill the gap with the same navy paint.

Once dry, add another set of tape lines above the first stripe. Fill this section with red paint, then carefully remove the tape.

This project is a perfect reminder that one stencil can create completely different looks. With just a few color changes and simple accents like stripes, you can customize your designs to match any styleβfarmhouse, coastal, or patriotic.
If you sell your creations, this is also a great way to create a cohesive but varied booth display that stands out.
